Friends, I was by no means planning to keep posting monthly notes about Isaiah after he turned one-year-old, but guys, I can't just keep all this cuteness to myself! Facebook is a good outlet for sharing some of the adorableness that we are blessed with every day, but it's just not enough sometimes. His little personality is just so far from little that I can barely survive each day without hugging and kissing him to death. The kid's gonna need therapy.
First. This face.
He just started crinkling his nose all the time. I think it was originally a response to the brightness of the sun, but now he gets such a reaction out of us that he makes it all sorts of random times and strangers always comment on it. It's not the most photogenic, but hopefully it's just a hilarious little phase and his face won't actually get stuck like that.
His interactions with Ruby and other dogs and animals are getting sweeter all the time. Possibly the cutest thing in the entire world is that he literally pants when he sees her. He's too smart for his own good. As Ruby almost never barks, he recognizes that what the dog says is not "Woof" or "Ruff," but "Hu-hu-hu-hu." He's now transferring it to other dogs, and all types of animals, whether they truly pant or not. He almost hyperventilates at the zoo. I think he connects 4 legs, or maybe fur, with panting now. I could die.
He is imitating everything, a straight-up little parrot. Usually it's darling and innocent, like us dancing or noises we make. The other day though, Ruby ran away for a couple hours, and when we finally found her, she jumped in the back of the car next to Isaiah's car seat, and he immediately started flailing his arms and scolding her the best he could. Clearly, I have words (and wild arm motions) with the dog too often. If we'd videod that one, it'd be viral.
He's clapping and high fiving now like a champ ("Choca la" is the Spanish command he high fives to), but not always on demand, so don't expect too much.
And to answer the million dollar question, "Is he walking yet?" Well, he's been waddling and cruising for months and about 6 weeks ago he started letting go sometimes. If he really wants something (especially something we don't want him to put in his mouth) then it's like he forgets he can't walk and glides right over as sturdy as any of us. But for the most part, I'd say his "walking" is more akin to Buzz Lightyear's "flying" which could more accurately be referred to as "falling with style." I was hoping he'd be getting around independently by Saturday for our neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt, but it looks like one of us will get to hold his tiny hand as he stumbles around for one more holiday. And I'm okay with that.
Here are a few more examples of why I can barely get anything done with all the times I have to stop and take pictures of him.
Wants to play soccer just like big Sissy who scored 2 goals in last night's game! |
My little shepherd checking on the chickens. |
He's taken the bumpers off the fireplace hearth and is wearing them around like skis. |
He's likely to turn into a black olive if we're not careful. But with the way he pokes his finger in the hole to eat them, of course we can't stop giving them to him. |
